MS Dhoni's display of daredevilry and captain-like qualities on eve of Pakistan clash

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has done the job of India captain admirably for almost a decade, and the reason for this thriving at the high-pressure job can be put down to the fact that he is not like other people. Unlike most others, Dhoni’s idea of fun is to jump from a moving aircraft, and his idea of peace is to feel like a bird for 20 seconds.

On the morning of the day when India are slated to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their Asia Cup clash, Dhoni uploaded a few photos of his first para jump from a military aircraft in August, a part of his training with the elite Para regiment of the Indian Army.

Dhoni, who is an honorary lieutenant colonel, showed characteristic calm during this jump:

He admitted to being a little nervous, but that he was second in line on his very first attempt to jump from an aircraft shows why he is the India captain. There can hardly be anybody who can lead from the front any better.

Dhoni was also self-critical, though not in any harsh way. He pointed out how his own posture while jumping is not the best, while also uploading a picture of how it should really be done by an experienced para jumper.

Dhoni ended with a reference to the chaos on the ground, but it is nice to know that even a man as frequently persecuted as Dhoni can have at least 20 seconds of safe haven.
