Mumbai Indians pay tribute to Late Ramakant Achrekar
The man behind the success of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Ramakant Achrekar, left the Indian cricket fraternity in shock after he breathed his last on 2nd January 2018. The man who created the God in the earth will see his way to the God in heaven; this is indeed a moment of grief for all cricket fans.
The unfortunate demise of the famous Mumbai coach stunned and brought tears in the eyes of his pupils, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Pravin Amre, Ajit Agarkar, Ramesh Powar being a few of those who represented India in the highest level of professional cricket.
One of the eight IPL franchises, Mumbai Indians, also paid an emotional tribute to Late Ramakant Achrekar, recollecting all the memories of the past.
Ramakant Achrekar was the prime reason why Sachin Tendulkar, Balvinder Singh Sandhu, Sanjay Bangar, Vinod Kambli, Paras Mhambrey, Lalchand Rajput, Pravin Amre, Chandrakant Pandit, Sameer Dighe, Ramesh Powar and Ajit Agarkar went on to wear the Indian kit in the international level.
Sachin Tendulkar, who was in tears during the funeral of his mentor, also paid a heartful tribute to Late Ramakant Achrekar through a statement which read -
"Cricket in heaven will be enriched with the presence of Achrekar sir. Like many of his students, I learnt my ABCD of cricket under sir's guidance. His contribution to my life cannot be captured in words. He built the foundation that I stand on. Last month, I met sir along with some of his students and spent some time together. We shared a laugh as we remembered the old times.
Achrekar sir taught us the virtues of playing straight and living straight. Thank you for making us a part of your life and enriching us with your coaching manual. Well played, sir and may you coach many more."
Mumbai Indians, in their tribute, praised Achrekar sir for supporting the players to go for their natural instincts. Mumbai Indians also recalled the memories of the past, when Archrekar Sir would keep his players on the back of his famous scooter to provide them with enough practice matches.
The young cricketers playing in the Shivaji Park also have a guard of honour to Ramakant Achrekar sir's corpse for his services to Mumbai cricket.
