Mushfiqur set to keep in Colombo as rib fracture sidelines Liton

Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim

Mushfiqur Rahim is set to resume wicketkeeping duties in Bangladesh's second Test against Sri Lanka after Liton Das was injured in a net session.

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur has vast experience as a keeper, but was informed he would play as a specialist batsman against Sri Lanka in a bid to make the most of his prowess with the willow.

Liton duly kept wicket during the first Test in Galle, which Sri Lanka won by 259 runs.

However, the youngster was injured on Tuesday, meaning Mushfiqur - who made 85 and 34 last week - will resume his familiar role behind the stumps when the second Test gets under way in Colombo on Wednesday.

A statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board's official website read: "Das was struck by a ball on his left ribcage while batting in the nets.

"Tests have confirmed a small fracture which will keep him out of the Test match."
