Mustafizur Rahman makes stunning debut in Sussex win

Mustafizur was excellent for the Sunrisers team during the IPL

Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladeshi cricketer, made his debut for the Sussex County Cricket Club with a stunning performance during a NatWest T20 Blast match. Rahman took four wickets in the game which helped Sussex defeat Essex by 24 runs. The performance also helped his side move up to the fourth position in the points table of the competition.

Mustafizur didn’t just shine with the ball in the game, the left-armer took four wickets and conceded 23 runs thus picking up the “Man of the Match” award.

Rahman is also the first player to win the “Man of the Match” award in both his debut Test and ODI and the 20-year-old made his international debut on 24 April 2015 against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Rahman had to deal with a delay in the Visa procedure and only arrived in England on Wednesday.

“It has taken some hard work to get Rahman here, and a lot of people have worked hard to make it happen. Now we can see why he was worth so much time and effort. He is a very special bowler. He has put in a performance straight away that was very special to watch,” the Sussex captain Luke Wright was quoted by ESPNCricinfo. Wright could not stop praising Rahman for his match-winning performance and also credited Sussex keeper Craig Cachopa for keeping well during the game.

Sussex started well with its 50 coming in the first six overs but Essex’s chances of victory were dealt a blow in the last four overs thanks to some great bowling by the Bangladeshi star. Wright further praised the talented bowler and was delighted to see him star for the team in his first game.

Brilliance in IPL

Many critics and analysts have stated that Mustafizur Rahman is one of the best death bowlers in the world and he was partly a reason behind the Surisers Hyderabad winning the 2016 IPL. The combination of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman provided Hyderabad with a wonderful bowling attack and they were successful in picking up 40 wickets in the tournament. Rahman himself picked up 17 wickets in 16 matches with an economy of 6.90.
