My first impression of Yuvraj Singh was not very good, says Rohit Sharma

<p>

What’s the story?

Indian vice-captain in limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma has said that his first meeting with Yuvraj Singh was not a very pleasant one and that it took quite some time for the duo to get along with each other.

“I used to fear the players. The first time when I was to board the team bus with other players, I reached the lobby one hour earlier. I was waiting for everyone. They came slowly but Yuvraj was looking different from far sight. I was a big fan of Yuvi,” Rohit said in the show Breakfast with Champions.

The details

Rohit also said that once he was on the bus and was seated on one of the seats when Yuvraj came to him and said in a very indifferent tone, “Did I know whose seat it was? Did I know who sits there?"

Also, he said that when he congratulated Yuvraj after he received the Player of the Tournament award, he just received a terse thank you and this cold shoulder was not well appreciated.

However, when the left-hander smashed six sixes in one over, he did come to Rohit and then the duo went out to eat together and this was where the ice was broken.

In case you didn’t know…

Rohit and Yuvraj have always been very close to each other and it should be mentioned here that Rohit's wife Ritika considers Yuvraj to be her rakhi brother.

They have always had a mutual admiration for each other over the years and the messages keep flowing in from either end on social media.

What’s next?

Rohit is now a permanent fixture in the Indian team across all the three formats while Yuvraj is currently out-of-favour with the selectors and his form and fitness remain a concern.

However, the southpaw did clear the yo-yo test which is mandatory to be considered for the national team.
