The fourth week of Mzansi Super League 2019 came to an end last Sunday with the Cape Town Blitz upsetting the Tshwane Spartans side. Paarl Rocks have solidified their position at the top of the points table with 23 points while the Spartans and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants have 19 points each.

The inaugural champions of MSL, Jozi Stars are placed at the bottom position with seven losses in seven matches. The Temba Bavuma-led side is yet to open its account on the standings. On the other side, Durban Heat who had not won a single match till week 3, won both of their matches in the fourth week.

The batsmen enjoyed batting on the flat wickets in South Africa though the fast bowlers troubled them on some occasions. So, without further ado, let us have a look at the top three run-scorers of Mzansi Super League 2019 till week 4.

#3 Temba Bavuma (Jozi Stars)

Matches - 7, Runs - 232, Highest Score - 62, Strike Rate - 134.88

The skipper of Jozi Stars, Temba Bavuma has led his side from the front by scoring 232 runs in 7 matches. His average of 38.66 showcases his consistency while he has also hit one fifty in the tournament.

The Stars played just one match in week 4 of MSL 2019 and Bavuma played a gritty knock of 37 runs against the Paarl Rocks. The lower order batsmen and the bowlers of Jozi Stars are yet to come to the party which is why the team is at the bottom position.

#2 Reeza Hendricks (Jozi Stars)

Matches - 7, Runs - 275, Highest Score - 80, Strike Rate - 125

It is surprising to note that two of Jozi Stars' batsmen feature in the top three run-getters list yet the side is placed at the last place. Reeza Hendricks has supported his captain to perfection in the 2019 edition of Mzansi Super League. Although his strike rate is a bit low, Hendricks has always contributed his bit to the team's cause.

In the fixture against Paarl Rocks, Hendricks shone with the bat as he scored 74 runs off 53 balls. He guided his team to a total of 171/3 however, the Rocks chased down the target in the 20th over.

#1 Janneman Malan (Cape Town Blitz)

Matches - 8, Runs - 298, Highest Score - 99*, Strike Rate - 150.50

Janneman Malan has been the star of Cape Town Blitz's Mzansi Super League campaign so far. The 23-year-old batsman has scored nearly 300 runs for them in the first 8 matches. He missed out on a well-deserved century against Jozi Stars earlier in the tournament.

In week 4, Malan played two matches. He played a magnificent knock of 75 runs against Durban Heat before chipping in with 36 runs versus the Tshwane Spartans. If Malan continues his fine form in the tournament, expect Cape Town to rise higher in the standings.
