Ashish Nehra reveals why he stays away from social media

Ashish Nehra has not taken much time to settle down with his new franchise

Veteran Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra has reportedly thrown light on his disconnect with social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Speaking to IPLT20.com after successfully bowling his team to victory against the Mumbai Indians, Nehra revealed, "I am too busy trying to keep myself fit. We are playing a game every alternate day and so I don't have time for all this."

Team mentor VVS Laxman has currently taken up the task of introducing the left-arm pacer to the social media world. In fact, the former Team India great had posted a picture of Nehra relaxing prior to his match-winning performance against Mumbai on his own Twitter page.

Talking about Laxman's attempts, the 37-year old quipped, "VVS Laxman is on my case to make me come on social media, but I am not coming anytime soon. It consumes too much time."

Ashish Nehra's career as a bowler has witnessed a resurrection of sorts over the past couple of years or so. He shined for the currently suspended Chennai Super Kings in the 2015 season and earned a spot in the national T20I side on the basis of his fine performance. Nehra carried out the responsibility of being Team India's senior bowler in the shortest format with great efficiency this year.

The seasoned campaigner was picked up by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise during the 2016 IPL auction and has been like a mentor to the other pacers in the team like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mustafizur Rahman and Barinder Sran. Nehra was all praise for SRH's young pace attack and said, "We have got a very good bowling attack. We have got variety in three young guys and I am trying to support them."

Recently, there have been reports on the veteran being considered for a bowling coach role with the Indian team. When asked about whether he is up for a coaching profile post-retirement, Ashish Nehra commented, "Many people have been asking me this question. I have always told them that I am still playing cricket. However, you never know, one day, maybe."
