Nepal defeat UAE in World T20 practice match

Nepal defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 31 runs in the second practice match for the preparations for the  ICC WT20 World Cup.

Nepal Vice captain Gyanendra Malla scored 52 runs as Nepal made 149 runs, losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Host UAE only managed to score 118 runs. Nepal fast bowler Sompal Kami gunned down three wickets of UAE.

Nepal Skipper Paras Khadka contributed 32 runs, opener Subash Khakurel and Basanta Regmi scored 10 runs each while Shakti Gauchan scored 15 runs not out. Sompal Kami  remained unbeaten on five runs while Binod Bhandari  scored 4 runs, Sharad Vesawkar scored 5 runs and Pradeep Airee contributed 7 runs for Nepal.

In an earlier practice match, Nepal lost to Netherlands by 44 runs.

Nepal national cricket team is in Dubai to prepare for its maiden T20 World Cup. The team will leave for Bangladesh on March 9 to compete in the World T20 scheduled to take place between March 16 and April 6.

The practice matches were arranged by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Nepal will face Hong Kong, host Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the group stage of World Cup T20.
