We need to score 230 runs to win, says a distraught Mahendra Singh Dhoni

After suffering a hat-trick of losses in the ongoing Indian Premier League, the Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni took a dig at his bowlers by saying that the side needs to score more than 200 runs to stand a chance of winning a game due to the inability of his new ball bowlers to strike upfront.

"I think we need 230 as our new-ball bowlers are not getting wickets with the new ball," Dhoni said at the post-match presentation ceremony on Thursday. "We have to address the defeats as we have lost a few games very easily," the captain added.

While explaining the plan to stop his side from easily losing the game when they were provided with good batting tracks, he said: "The easier thing would be to chase in each and every game. Today, I went in and ate up quite a few deliveries. I think 185 was a decent score but under par."

The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Darren Sammy credited opening batsman David Warner for his effort in ensuring a 6-wicket win against the Super Kings that has kept them in the hunt for the play-off spot.

"We have been rising to the challenge, looking to control what we can. Good thing that we bowled first. Credit to Warner and Dhawan. After a few games, you tend to look for ways to improve and Warner has always been better up the order. We can now just hope things go in our favour."
