New Zealand vs India 2014: 1st Test - Twitter reactions to India's 40-run loss
New Zealand held their nerve during an Indian counter-attack late on Day 4 to win the first Test match at Auckland by 40 runs. It was a memorable win for the Kiwis but it was also marked by few moments of controversy.
Here is a round-up of how the Twitter universe reacted to what unfolded on Day 4.
Ross Taylor appreciated the efforts of both teams in playing out a very good Test match.
What an awesome game. Fight backs from both teams thru out the whole game. #NZvInd #1-0

Neil Wagner was predictably thrilled with his fantastic effort with the ball.

The Black Caps were pretty chuffed with the win and the celebrations continued for a while.
Special moment as the @BLACKCAPS head back out to the pitch for the team song in the empty stadium ^RI pic.twitter.com/bXZU1LVgVD

This New Zealand fan credits M.S Dhoni for his behaviour post the loss.
MS Dhoni is a credit to the game of cricket – polite, no excuses or complaints, compliments & congratulates the @blackcaps team

Scotty Styris is not impressed with people taking credit away from the New Zealand team.
so much hatred out there towards some of the umpiring decisions. well… as they say in the movies…. ‘cry me a river’

Siddhartha Vaidyanathan doesn’t think DRS would have changed India’s fortunes in the Test.
No DRS was going to improve the length in the first innings. Just like no DRS could help India make more than 202. So enough excuses already

Harsha Bhogle too thinks umpiring decisions weren’t the major factor in India’s loss.
you can talk about the umpiring…it happens in a game. india lost because the bowlers conceded 505 in the 1st innings.

This fan comes up with a rather bleak looking stat for Indian fans.
It is now 962 days and 13 Test matches since India last won a Test match away from home, when they beat WI on June 23rd 2011. #NZvIND #BCCI

Freddie Wilde isn’t mincing words about the no-ball call on M.S Dhoni’s dismissal.
That’s bizarre umpiring – was a no ball for almost everyone but crucially not the man who mattered. #NZvInd

And finally, Ramesh Srivats thinks its a win-win for D.R.S
If India had won, Dhawan, Rohit and (Ishant) Sharma would have trended. We lost. So Decision Review System is trending. Either way, D.R.S.
