Buoyant Kiwis look to clinch series in the second ODI.

After humiliating the visitors in the opening encounter by eight wickets, The hosts New Zealand will now look to seal the series, when they welcome Bangladesh for the second ODI at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, February 16.

New Zealand

The Kiwis unbeaten streak against the Tigers continues, as the win in the previous game was their eleventh consecutive home win against the Tigers.

While their previous record at the Christchurch will boost their confidence even further, as they have won eight out of the nine ODIs at this venue.

Batting

Martin Guptill had a dream comeback in the previous game, smashing an unbeaten 117 to guide New Zealand to victory and in the process shared a 103-run opening wicket stand with Henry Nicolls (53) and unbeaten partnership of 96 runs with Ross Taylor (45*). Guptill also boasts a good record at the Hagley Oval, and one can expect another big knock from him.

Tom Latham and Ross Taylor are two Kiwis to crack a ton at this ground, Latham claiming it in their previous match against same opponents and he will be eager to play a similar knock in this fixture.

Bowling

Trent Boult and Matt Henry played a key role in removing the opponents top order and reduced them to 42/4 inside nine overs.

Both were quite phenomenal with respective figures of 3-40 and 2-48. Mitchell Santner and Lockie Ferguson rattled the lower order to end the Bangladesh innings and the skipper will need them to strangle the Tigers in the next game too.

Expected Playing XI

Kane Williamson (C), Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham (W), James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner, Henry Nicholls, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult.

The Tigers wait for their maiden win extends as they failed to push the hosts in the first ODI. Despite being a force in home conditions, they have not been able to transform their success in other countries.

Though they have little time to work upon and should come out with more disciplined plan in next game.

Batting

The failure of Bangladesh's top order certainly outlined the passage for their defeat.

At one stage they were found reeling at 94-6 at one stage before Mohammad Mithun played a steady knock of 62 runs to bring some respite and get the team towards a respectable total.

Except him, the only player to show some grit was Soumya Sarkar, who scored 30 runs from 22 balls, and these two will be expected to make to better in the next outing.

While the team will also need their openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das to rectify their mistakes in the upcoming games and provide a good opening wicket stand to set the tone for the middle order to follow.

Bowling

Despite bowling tight spells, their bowlers failed to clinch Kiwi wickets, and the concern was clearly viable during the game, which made skipper Mashrafe Mortaza use seven different options to counter the Kiwis, but nothing seemed to have worked for them.

Though there was a little positive for them to take, as most of their bowlers were economical during their spells with skipper himself being the pick of the lot with 33 runs in his 8.3 overs.

However, along with tight spells, he would back his bowlers to add few wickets to the tally in the next game.

Expected Playing XI

Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim (W), Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Shafiul Islam and Mehidy Hasan.
