New Zealand vs India 2019, 2nd T20I: Player Ratings
Looking to bounce back after suffering a huge defeat in the 1st T20I at Wellington, the Men in Blue took on New Zealand in the 2nd T20I at Auckland.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first. However, Williamson's decision to bat first backfired as Indian bowlers recovered from their poor bowling performance at Wellington to restrict New Zealand to just 158/8 in 20 overs on a flat batting pitch.
Chasing a modest total of 159, the Indian batsmen hardly broke any sweat and chased down the target in 18.5 overs for the loss of 3 wickets to level the 3-match T20I series at 1-1.
With the match done and dusted, let's see how the players from both the sides fared in this encounter:
New Zealand
Tim Seifert- 2/10
The wicket keeper batsman failed to repeat his heroics from the 1st T20I as he was dismissed for just 12 runs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Colin Munro- 2/10
Just like his opening partner, Colin Munro too failed with the bat and was dismissed for run-a-ball 12 by Krunal Pandya.
Kane Williamson- 5/10
Williamson got off to a decent start by scoring 20 runs off 17 balls before ending up as one of the three victims of Krunal Pandya.
Daryl Mitchell- 1/10
Playing only his second T20 international, the 27-year-old Daryl Mitchell was dismissed in a controversial fashion by Krunal Pandya. Mitchell did not have a good day with the ball either as his only over went for 15 runs despite he picking up the wicket of Vijay Shankar.
Ross Taylor- 6/10
The veteran batsman continued his good form and held the New Zealand innings together by scoring 42 runs off 36 balls before being run out in the 19th over, courtesy of a brilliant direct hit by Vijay Shankar from deep long-on.
Colin De Grandhomme- 7/10
The all-rounder was the best Kiwi batsman on display as he scored his maiden T20 international fifty off just 28 balls and smashed one four and 4 sixes before being caught by Rohit Sharma off Hardik Pandya's bowling at the fag end of the New Zealand innings.
Mitchell Santner- 1/10
Santner had an off day as he was clean bowled for just 7 runs by Khaleel Ahmed and also failed to pick up a single wicket in his 2 overs.
Scott Kuggeleijn- 1/10
Kuggeleijn too ended up having a bad game as he went wicketless in his spell of 3.5-0-32-0.
Tim Southee- 1/10
The experienced Kiwi pacer failed to repeat his good bowling performance from the 1st T20I as he went for 34 runs in his 4 overs and also failed to pick up early wickets which was the need of the hour for New Zealand.
Ish Sodhi- 4/10
Just like his spin colleague Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi also failed to trouble Indian batsmen but managed to dismiss Rohit Sharma in his 4-over spell.
Lockie Ferguson- 5/10
The right arm fast bowler once again troubled the Indian batsmen with his quick pace early on and was also one of the three Kiwi bowlers who managed to take a wicket in today's match.
