Newell backs Taylor to perform in the

Good season would earn him a place at national squad

James Taylor has been omitted from the England performance squad, is looking ahead of playing for England with some impressive domestic performance. However Nevertheless he had has been played two test matches for England against South Africa when Ravi Bopara was axed from the squad.

He shared a wonderful constructive partnership of 147 runs with Kevin Pietersen where he scored 34, but was unfortunately run-out.

He wasn’thasn’t been given much chance to play for the England as he had been omitted from the England’s winter squad despite leading Lions in Australia.

The second campaign starts with next week’s championship with Middlesex. Nottinghamshire director Newell believes Taylor will definitely produce more runs.

Nottinghamshire director Newell also backed Taylor to perform in the forthcoming seasons and he’s sure of a good performance from Taylor. “In terms of number it was a poorer return (than I would have liked), but I would expect him to average less in Division One than Two. If not, then what is the point?” Newell told of Taylor’s 2012 championship runs.

“I don’t think he was quite ready to play Test cricket; had Bopara not pulled out for personal reasons he would not have played.

“He just needs a bit longer to develop his game. But I’m very confident he is going to be a high run-scorer for the next two or three years.”

Newell also said that Cowan’s presence at the top of the order gives them the stability. “The batting is as good as we have had for a while. Hopefully Cowan gives us some stability,” Newell added.

“We have a good, solid top six and (Steven) Mullaney as a good first reserve if there are injuries or Lions calls or whatever.”

James Taylor has the guidance from the experienced Ed Cowan at the top of the order and he has to work a little harder tricjasdkjdhasfjdshfjhdsf inorder to be establish himself as a successful good batsman.
