"10 saal ho gaye yaar" - Rohit Sharma obliges to fans' request for autograph in Adelaide ahead of BGT 2024-25 2nd Test
India captain Rohit Sharma recently fulfilled a fan's request after a 10-year-long wait in Adelaide on Monday, December 2. The 37-year-old obliged to the fan's request for a selfie at the venue. The fan was absolutely thrilled and gave him a Mumbaikar vibe, potentially a Mumbai Indians fan, calling him "Mumbai Cha Raja", meaning a king.
Notably, Rohit is one of the most followed players in India. He is next to none and is rated among popular cricketers like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and MS Dhoni. His popularity only peaked after he led India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year after nearly 17 years.
The BCCI shared the video on X and wrote:
"The wait of a decade finally ends. A fan waited for 10 years to get a @ImRo45 autograph and yesterday was his lucky day."
In the clip, the fan was heard saying:
"Rohit bhai please 10 saal ho gaye yaar. Mumbai ka Raja."
Take a look:
Rohit Sharma is back to lead Team India in the remaining four Tests of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under. The right-hander missed the first Test due to paternity leave after the birth of his second child.
Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah led India to an emphatic 295-run victory in the first Test held in Perth. With that, the tourists took a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series.
Rohit Sharma failed to deliver against Australia PM XI in pink-ball warmup game
Rohit Sharma failed to deliver in the pink-ball warmup game, departing for just three runs off 11 balls. This came amid Rohit's poor slump of form where he has managed just 133 runs in the last five Tests (10 innings), including one half-century.
Notably, Rohit dropped himself to No.4 in the warm-up game amid growing calls that KL Rahul should open in the remaining Tests. The wicketkeeper-batter had returned with scores of 26 and 77 in the first Test. He shared a 201-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second essay.
The Mumbai batter will be keen to return to form, having amassed 2033 runs across formats Down Under.
