2024 Women's T20 World Cup semifinals: Schedule, venues, and timings in IST

West Indies confirmed their place in the semifinals of the ICC Women's 2024 T20 World Cup with a clinical six-wicket victory against England on Tuesday, October 15. The Windies got the better of England in match number 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With the win, West Indies not only topped Group B but also knocked out England, who had won their three previous matches.

Bowling first after winning the toss, West Indies came up with a competent effort to restrict England to 141-7. Afy Fletcher registered figures of 3-21, while Hayley Matthews picked up 2-35. For England, the experienced Nat Sciver-Brunt hit an unbeaten 57 off 50 balls.

In their chase, the West Indies got home in 18 overs. Skipper Matthews (50 off 38) and Qiana Joseph (52 off 38) added 102 for the opening wicket in 12.2 overs, while Deandra Dottin chipped in with 27 off 19. It was an amazing turnaround for West Indies who began their T20 World Cup campaign with a shocking 10-wicket loss to South Africa in Dubai.


Who will meet whom in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup semifinals?

As per the tournament schedule, the team finishing first in Group A will meet the team that came second in Group B in the semifinals. Similarly, the side that stood second in Group A will take on the nation that ended first in Group B.

As per the above arrangement, Australia will face South Africa in the first semifinal in Dubai on October 17. Also, the West Indies will take on New Zealand in the second semifinal in Sharjah on October 18. The winner of the two semifinals will meet in the final in Dubai on October 20.

Australia topped Group A, with four wins out of four and a net run rate of +2.223. They beat Sri Lanka by six wickets, New Zealand by 60 runs, Pakistan by nine wickets and India by nine runs.

South Africa finished in second place in Group B of the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup. They ended with six points and net run rate of +1.382. The Proteas thumped West Indies by 10 wickets before losing to England by seven wickets. South Africa recovered with wins over Scotland (80 runs) and Bangladesh (seven wickets).

West Indies topped Group B, with six points and a net run rate of +1.536. Before the win against England, they beat Scotland and Bangladesh by six wickets and eight wickets respectively.

New Zealand ended second in Group A, with six points and a net run rate of 0.879. After beating India by 58 runs, they went down to Australia by 60 runs. The Kiwis, however, recovered with triumphs over Sri Lanka and Pakistan by eight wickets and 54 runs respectively.
