"A captain knock" - Fans react to Shan Masood's 151-run knock in 2024 PAK vs ENG 1st Test
Pakistan captain Shan Masood led by example against England on Day 1 of the ongoing first Test in Multan on Monday, October 7. The left-hander scored 151 runs off 177 balls with the help of two sixes and 13 boundaries. This was Masood’s fifth Test ton, second against England, and first as Pakistan captain.
During his stellar knock, Masood shared a mammoth 253-run partnership with Abdullah Shafique for the second wicket after the hosts lost their first wicket for just eight runs. He also completed 2,000 runs in Test cricket before being eventually caught and bowled by Jack Leach.

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood said that they are keen to beat England having lost their previous Test series against the same opponents by a 3-0 margin. The 34-year-old said in the pre-match press conference (via ESPNcricinfo):
"We came close to winning last time, but we let the matches slip away. We know how they play, but at the end of the day we have to see how to tackle it. We are clear in our mind and that's why we have named the XI."
At the time of writing, the hosts were 280/6 after 66 overs, with Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel at the crease. Apart from Masood, Abdullah Shafique scored 102 runs off 184 deliveries, comprising two sixes and 10 boundaries. Gus Atkinson has been the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, scalping two wickets so far.
