"Ab rok ke dikhao koi" - Riyan Parag thrilled as Dhruv Jurel bags maiden India call-up for Tests against England

All-rounder Riyan Parag shares a great camaraderie with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel as they have played together at the India A level and are also in the same IPL team, the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

RR's social media handle posted on X congratulating Jurel on getting his first India call-up for the first two Tests against England. Riyan quoted that post to express his happiness on seeing Jurel breaking through in the Indian ranks.

Here's what he wrote:

"Mera ladka ban gaya INDIA ab rok ke dikhao koi @dhruvjurel21 (my boy is now an India player, try and stop him if you can.)"

Riyan Parag himself has had a fine run in domestic cricket and will be hopeful of that India cap too.

Dhruv Jurel gets an opportunity as Ishan Kishan misses out

India head coach Rahul Dravid, ahead of the T20I series against Afghanistan, clarified in the media that Ishan Kishan was not available for selection since he had asked for a break citing mental fatigue.

While KL Rahul did keep wickets in the Test series against South Africa, it is a different challenge against quality spinners on potential rank-turners. These factors probably would have combined to hand Dhruv Jurel a dream opportunity.

In just 15 first-class games, Jurel has averaged 46.47 with a hundred and five half-centuries. He also recently impressed for India A against South Africa A with a fine knock of 69 in Benoni.

While the youngster may not start as India's first-choice wicketkeeper, it could certainly be a great learning curve for him to share the dressing room with such stellar names.

Squad for first 2 Tests vs England: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.
