"Aja bhai jaldi" - Irfan Pathan keen to witness Mohammed Shami's comeback

Team India's veteran seamer Mohammed Shami is on a comeback trail after being on the sidelines for almost a year due to an ankle injury. The seasoned campaigner has been out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup final and underwent an Achilles Tendon surgery earlier this year.

Shami has been working hard for his much-anticipated return to competitive cricket. The cricket star has used social media to give fans a glimpse of his training.

The 34-year-old bowler uploaded a video of himself bowling in the nets on his Instagram handle on Wednesday, October 23. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan commented on the aforementioned post, urging Shami to make a comeback soon.

Shami captioned the post:

"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."

"There is no need to get frustrated" - Mohammed Shami's message to Mohammed Siraj amid poor form

Mohammed Siraj's red-ball form has concerned many fans. The pacer bagged just two wickets in India's Test series opener against New Zealand in Bengaluru.

Mohammed Shami pointed out that Siraj is going through a phase where he hasn't been able to execute his plans. He mentioned that the 30-year-old wants to pick up wickets but has struggled to do so, with dropped catches also playing a part.

The experienced bowler suggested that Siraj should be working on his basics to regain his mojo. Speaking to Sports Tak, Shami said:

"It's not that Siraj is new, he is quite experienced. At times, what we are focusing on doesn't happen. I think he is going through a phase where he wants to do but it's not happening. He wants to pick up wickets but people are not getting out, or if he is getting the edge, catches are not being taken."
"That phase comes sometimes. I feel there is no need to get frustrated. Concentrate on the basics, pick a spot and keep bowling there, no one will be able to stop you once you start getting success."

Mohammed Shami is expected to feature in the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy for Bengal as he looks to prove his match fitness after a lengthy hiatus.
