"Always proves his fans are wrong" - Fans react as Sanju Samson departs for consecutive ducks in IND vs SL T20Is
Sanju Samson once again failed to deliver with the bat in the third and final T20I between India and Sri Lanka in Pallekele on Tuesday, July 30. The right-handed batter departed for a four-ball duck, caught by Wanindu Hasaranga at deep point off Chamindu Wickramasinghe.
The wicketkeeper-batter also departed for a golden duck in the second T20I. Thus, Samson failed to deliver in both outings against Sri Lanka, which put his participation in doubt for future India games.
The Kerala batter has already been ignored for the three-match ODI series in the island country, which starts in Colombo on August 2.
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) reckon that Sanju Samson will be dropped from the side following his failures in Sri Lanka. One user wrote:
"This guy always proves his fans are wrong. Won't be making any tweets to support him. There's a lot of talent in Indian Cricket at the moment, it's better to give them chances. Goodbye Sanju Samson!!"
Another user wrote:
"That could be the end for Sanju Samson international carrer in t20s I think."
A third user added:
"Is this is last t20 game for sanju smason feel bad for sanju samoson despite so much opportunities."

“This is not the first time” – Robin Uthappa on why Sanju Samson keeps getting in and out of Team India
Former India batter Robin Uthappa in a recent conversation pointed out how Sanju Samson has failed to live up to expectations. Uthappa stated that Samson has failed to deliver consistently in the white-ball formats and thus keeps getting in and out of Team India.
He stressed that Samson needs to deliver in his limited opportunities to cement his place in the national side. The cricketer-turned-commentator recently told Sony Sports Network (via FirstPost):
“From Sanju’s perspective, this is not the first time he has gone through it? I don’t think it will be the last time he will go through it as a player.”
“When the opportunities do come, he will have to grab those opportunities to make sure he steps up with solid performances that keep him in the running,” he added.
Former cricketer Saba Karim had also pointed out that Samson has only done well in a few innings. He told Sony Sports Network during Zimbabwe series (via India Today):
"He has done well in patches."
India will next play a three-match T20I series in Bangladesh in October.
