Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi replace Wanindu Hasaranga, Nuwan Thushara in St.Kitts & Nevis Patriots squad for CPL 2024

Sri Lankan pair Wanindu Hasaranga and Nuwan Thushara will miss the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season due to injuries they suffered recently during the India series. The South African pair of Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi will replace the duo in the St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP) squad.

Thushara entirely missed India's white-ball tour to Sri Lanka with a finger injury. Meanwhile, Hasaranga played the T20I series and the first ODI before missing the final two games with a hamstring injury.

Nortje is coming off an impressive 2024 T20 World Cup campaign where he helped South Africa reach their maiden World Cup final. He will be making his maiden CPL appearance.

On the other hand, Shamsi has been a prominent member of the CPL, having played 32 games and 27 for SNP with 33 wickets at an excellent economy of 7.06 for them.

The side endured a dismal run in the last CPL season (2023), finishing at the bottom of the points table with a lone win and seven losses. SNP won their first CPL title in the 2021 season but have finished second to bottom and bottom in the subsequent two editions.

Guyana Warriors are the defending CPL champions, having won their first title by defeating the four-time champions Trinbago Knight Riders in the summit clash.

The 2024 season begins with the new franchise Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who replaced the Jamaica Tallawahs, taking on SNP on August 29. The six-team competition will see each team play the other five twice with the top four advancing to the playoffs.

The grand finale will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on October 6.
