"Anushka Sharma is a well-respected, reputed woman"- Ahmed Shehzad says Virat Kohli's wife did not deserve trolls for husband's on-field performance
Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has hit back at social media users, who would troll Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma whenever the cricketer did not perform well on the field.
In an appearance on Nadir Ali's podcast, Ahmed Shehzad was asked about his views on cricketers being trolled online for their on-field performance. The host referred to how some social media users bring in families of cricketers as well.
Giving the example of how Anushka Sharma would face criticism for Virat Kohli's failure in the past, Shehzad stated:
"Anushka Sharma is a well-respected, reputed woman. Why did she get so much negative things from fans? There was a category of people in India only who did not like seeing Virat Kohli grow. They created a negative propaganda. There are people who even involve families in this thing." [41.24 onwards]
Shehzad claimed that there was no need to entertain such 'mannerless' social media users. In his view, all fans have the right to criticize the player for his performance, but bringing in families was completely wrong.
"He himself says that his life has become so much better ever since she came in his life"- Ahmed Shehzad on Anushka Sharma's role in Virat Kohli's success
During the same podcast, the host asked Ahmed Shehzad if a player's wife had any role in the player's success. The Pakistan batter once again gave an example of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma and said:
"You ask Virat Kohli himself. I have seen at least 4 to 6 statements from Virat at the grand stage that his wife has helped him become better. He himself says that his life has become so much better ever since she came in his life. If a player himself gives the credit of his success to his spouse, I think he is doing the right thing."
Ahmed Shehzad has been friends with Virat Kohli off the field. In the past, Shehzad once disclosed that Kohli was always there for him whenever he needed advice.
