Arshdeep Singh removes all PBKS-related Instagram posts after being released ahead of IPL 2025 auction
Team India's left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was released by Punjab Kings (PBKS) last month ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. PBKS are set for yet another complete overhaul, with uncapped Indian players Shashank Singh (₹5.5 crore) and Prabhsimran Singh (₹4 crore) being their only retentions.
Arshdeep was picked by Punjab ahead of IPL 2019 for ₹20 lakh. He was among the two players the team retained before the previous mega auction in 2019. The talented bowler was expected to be retained, given his impressive run with the side.
However, the team management had other plans. While PBKS have four Right to Match (RTM) cards and can re-acquire Arshdeep's services at the auction, the seamer's recent social media activity suggests that all may not be well between the two parties.
Arshdeep doesn't follow PBKS on Instagram and has even deleted or archived all the posts related to the team. The 25-year-old had been one of Punjab's standout performers and is their second-highest wicket-taker in the league's history with 76 wickets from 65 matches.
It is worth mentioning that PBKS continue to follow Arshdeep on Instagram. It remains to be seen if the Punjab think tank decides to use an RTM card for the youngster at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Arshdeep Singh was PBKS' second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024
Punjab endured another dismal campaign, failing to qualify for the all-important playoffs in IPL 2024. They finished at the penultimate place in the standings, winning just five out of their 14 fixtures in the league stage.
Arshdeep Singh was one of their top performers with the ball in the season. He was the second-highest wicket-taker for PBKS in IPL 2024, bagging 19 scalps from 14 outings at an economy rate of 10.03.
PBKS have made major changes ahead of the upcoming season. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting will be the team's head coach for IPL 2025, while they are also on the hunt for a new skipper.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh is part of India's squad for the upcoming four-match away T20I series against South Africa. The opening encounter will take place in Durban on Friday, November 8.
