"At least you have got past 36" - Michael Vaughan trolls India for getting bundled out for 46 in IND vs NZ 2024 1st TestÂ
Team India won the toss and chose to bat first in the ongoing Test series opener against New Zealand in Bengaluru. However, the decision backfired as the Kiwi pacers ran riot on Day 2. It is worth mentioning that Day 1 was washed out without the toss due to rain.
The New Zealand pacers dominated the proceedings in the first innings, claiming wickets at regular intervals. None of the batters could put up a strong fight, with Rishabh Pant (20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) being the only players to cross the 10-run mark.
A total of five batters, including senior players Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, bagged ducks. The Men in Blue were ultimately folded for 46, their lowest-ever total in home Tests.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan took this opportunity to troll the Rohit Sharma-led side. He sarcastically suggested that the Indian fans should be relieved that the team at least scored more than 36 runs.
India were bundled out for 36 against Australia in Adelaide in December 2020, which remains the side's lowest-ever total in the format. Taking to the microblogging platform X, Vaughan wrote:

Matt Henry and William O'Rourke were the pick of the New Zealand bowlers in the first innings, claiming five and four wickets, respectively.
Kuldeep Yadav draws first blood with the ball for India in IND vs NZ 2024 1st Test
After being bundled out for a paltry score, the home team needed their bowlers to come to the party early. However, the New Zealand openers did an impressive job of negating the new ball.
It was left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav who drew first blood, getting rid of skipper Tom Latham in the 18th over. The crafty spinner got the better of the southpaw with a googly.
Latham didn't read the wrong'un and was hit on the pad while trying to defend it. Rohit Sharma and Co. opted for a successful review and the left-handed batter had to walk back. At the time of writing, New Zealand are 82/1 in 20 overs at the tea break, leading the hosts by 36 runs.
