Rishabh Pant and his India teammates Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel engaged in hilarious banter with each other regarding the winner’s medals at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The reactions came in as Pant shared pictures on Instagram where he could be seen posing with the medal.
Notably, BCCI secretary Jay Shah gave away the winners’ medals to Indian players after they beat South Africa by seven runs in the final to win an ICC trophy after a gap of 11 years.
Sharing the post on Instagram on Wednesday (June 3), Pant captioned it:
“This medal hits you differently.”
Reacting to the post, Axar Patel wrote hilariously:
“Bhai same mere pass bhi hai (Brother, I have the same thing)."
Mohammed Siraj also replied:
“Bhai mere pass bhi h same (Brother, I too have the same thing).”
The T20 World Cup-winning players are stuck in Barbados due to inclement weather, including a hurricane. Rohit Sharma and company will arrive in New Delhi on Thursday, July 4.
Axar Patel unsung hero at the 2024 T20 World Cup
Axar Patel proved to be the unsung hero for India at the 2024 T20 World Cup. In the final, the southpaw scored 47 runs off 31 balls. He shared a 72-run partnership with Virat Kohli for the fourth wicket to recover the Men in Blue from 3/34. The left-arm spinner also dismissed Tristan Stubbs in the final.
Patel finished with figures of 3/23 against England in the semi-final. Overall, he bagged nine wickets in eight games at an economy rate of 7.86.
Axar will be a key member for India in T20Is after Ravindra Jadeja retired alongside India captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the format after India won the ICC event.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant amassed 171 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 127.61. Although he failed to deliver against Australia (15), England (4), and South Africa (duck) in the last three crucial games. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj returned with one wicket in his game in the group stage.
All three players have been rested for the upcoming India tour of Zimbabwe, which starts on Saturday, July 6.
