"Bapu got kicked out again by a South African before reaching his destination"- Top 10 funny memes after first innings of IND vs SA World Cup final
Team India scored a decent total of 176/7 in the first innings of the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa on Saturday, June 29. The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, is hosting the clash.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first in the contest. They got off to a good start as Virat Kohli hit three fours in the first over. However, things changed quickly for Men in Blue. Keshav Maharaj stunned them with twin blows in the second over by dismissing Rohit Sharma (9) and Rishabh Pant (0).
Kagiso Rabada also joined in by sending back Suryakumar Yadav in the fifth over to reduce the Asian side to 34/3 in 4.3 overs. All-rounder Axar Patel was then sent in at No. 5 to stem the flow of wickets. He and Virat Kohli played watchfully and resurrected the innings with a sensible partnership of 72 runs. Axar took the aggressive route and hit boundaries the opportunity presented while Kohli anchored the innings at the other end.
After a magnificent knock of 47 (31) in a crunch situation, Axar Patel got run out due to his own mistake. Virat Kohli picked up pace after his departure and smashed a couple of boundaries en route to 76 (59) before perishing in the 19th over. Shivam Dube (27) chipped in with a brilliant cameo in the death overs to lift India's total of 176.
