In response, Smriti Madhana scored 46 runs for India. However, the Women in Blue faced too many dot balls in the middle overs, which cost them the game. Jemimah Rodrigues fought hard; she remained unbeaten on 53 off 30 balls but couldn’t get the team over the line as India fell short by 12 runs.

India Women will face South Africa Women in the second T20I match on July 7.
