BCCI announces 70-match league stage for IPL 2023 as home & away format returns

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). A total of 70 matches will be played between 10 teams over 52 days, including seven home and away games, as the home and away format returns after three years.

IPL 2022 champion Gujarat Titans (GT) will play the opening fixture against four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Ahmedabad on March 31. The IPL 2023 final will be played on May 28, with the venue for the playoffs and summit clash to be announced.

A total of 18 double headers will be played with the day games at 3.30 pm and the evening fixtures from 7.30 PM onwards.

The tournament will be played across 12 venues: Dharamsala, Guwahati, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mohali and Ahmedabad.

The 10 teams have been divided into two groups – Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants in Group A while Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans are in Group B.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play their first two home games in Guwahati before hosting the remaining home games in Jaipur. Similarly, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will play their first five home games in Mohali before shifting their base to Dharamsala.
