"Sonu Sood helped us" - When Mohammed Shami's friend opened up about the Bollywood actor helping him for a noble cause during COVID-19 lockdown
During his appearance on journalist Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Mohammed Shami's close friend Umesh Kumar claimed his fast-bowling partner helped many laborers stuck in Amroha reach their homes during the COVID-19 lockdown.
He mentioned that they received help from Sonu Sood for the noble cause. Speaking about how Shami booked an entire train for the laborers, Umesh said:
"There are many kilns in Amroha and all the labourers there are from Bihar. Shami booked a whole train for 3000 people. We personally went to every bogie and gave them tiffins. Trains also came from Mumbai, which we used to book. Sonu Sood helped us with that there. Shami and I received those people here and made them sit in air-conditioned buses."
Shami could make his cricketing return with the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024. According to PTI, he could feature in Bengal's opening match of the season against Uttar Pradesh, beginning October 11.
