"Bhai yaar wapas lele captaincy"- Top 10 funny memes as India's 11-year unbeaten streak in danger after Day 2 of 2nd Test vs New Zealand 2024

New Zealand asserted their dominance on Day 2 of the second Test against India on Friday (October 25), with a commanding bowling and batting performance. The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune is hosting the clash.

India began the day with an overnight score of 16/1, with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease. Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner bowled a sensational spell, spinning a web around the Indian batters to skittle them cheaply for 156 in their first innings. He picked up seven wickets in 19.3 overs, giving away 53 runs.

None of the home team batters showed the right temperament and technique to counter the spin-friendly conditions. Most of them lost wickets trying to hit their way out of trouble.

New Zealand then reached 198/5 in their second innings at stumps on Day 2 and extended their lead to 301 runs. After their clinical show on Friday, the Kiwis are firmly in the driver's seat to win the contest. India's record of being unbeaten in home Test series since December 2012 is also in danger.

"I was trying to play with the angle"- New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner after his 7-wicket haul vs India in Pune Test

After stumps on Day 2, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner reflected on his bowling performance in the first innings, saying:

"It is a great feeling and to put ourselves in a position to win this Test was pretty good. The batters definitely had it a bit tough and they are doing a great job. We were discussing about what would be the right pace on this track. I was trying to play with the angle, the more wider you get, the more you restrict the batter."

He continued:

"Saw Washi doing the same and decided to give it a try. When we come over here, the spinners get a bit of assistance, back home you don't get much from the green tops present. It is doing a little bit, you need to get in better positions. If you sit there and scratch around, you'll get out. We have played some shots and have been much more accurate."
