Sydney Sixers took on Adelaide Strikers in the 11th match of the Big Bash League 2023-24 on Friday, December 22, at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Strikers won the toss and elected to bowl.
The Sixers lost their first three wickets for just 40 runs. Moises Henriques (23) and Jordan Silk added 66 runs for the fourth wicket. Silk went on to score 66 runs off 45 deliveries to remain unbeaten.
The Sixers posted a total of 155 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Jamie Overton was the pick of the bowlers for the Strikers and took three wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Matthew Short took two scalps, while David Payne and James Bazley picked up one wicket each.
The Strikers had a slow start to their chase and could only make 37 runs in the first six overs. They made 47 runs in the next four overs and lost three wickets. They failed to meet the required run rate in the following seven overs.
The Strikers needed 18 runs off the last over to win. They scored 13 runs off the first four deliveries but could make only three runs off the last two deliveries, falling short by one run.
