"British cricketers have always been a Nightmare for India"- Top 10 funny memes after India's top-order collapse in 1st Test vs Bangladesh 2024
Team India's top-order batters copped criticism from fans after they failed to deliver on day 1 of the opening Test against Bangladesh on Thursday (September 19). The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is hosting the clash.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first on a greenish surface on an overcast morning. The Indian batters struggled in pacer-conducive conditions against the new ball. Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud troubled top batters like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli with a magnificent bowling display. Hasan dismissed the trio inside 10 overs of the first innings, leaving the opposition reeling at 34/3.
Rohit Sharma (6) tried to weather the early storm with watchful batting, but departed after surviving a couple of close calls in the sixth over. Coming in at one down, Shubman Gill struggled miserably before perishing for an eight-ball duck. Virat Kohli (6) then came out and played with intent. However, it resulted in his downfall as he went chasing a wide delivery, edging it to the wicketkeeper.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (56) and Rishabh Pant (39) showed better application and stitched a 62-run stand for the fourth wicket to stabilize things after a turbulent start. However, both wasted their hard work, throwing away their starts in the second session. KL Rahul batted with a defensive mindset and got to 16 (52) but departed soon after, leaving India in huge trouble at 144/6.
Fans were disappointed with Indian batters for their poor performance in the first innings of the Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. They expressed their reactions by sharing hilarious memes on social media platforms.
