Indian captain Rohit Sharma's mother, Purnima Sharma took to Instagram to express her emotions after her son led the Men in Blue to their second T20 World Cup triumph. India beat South Africa in Barbados by seven runs to clinch the title and end their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought.

Both Rohit and Virat announced their retirement from the T20I format after India's win over South Africa. Kohli told the host broadcaster about how he wanted to see the next generation take over in T20Is. Rohit, while speaking to the reporters in the post-match press conference, highlighted how signing off with a trophy was the best way for him to bid adieu from the format.
