"C'mon Ash C'mon Ash forever" - Rishabh Pant pays tribute to Ravichandran Ashwin after off-spinner announces retirement

Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant paid an emotional tribute to Ravichandran Ashwin after the latter's retirement by posting a video on his official social media account. Ashwin announced his international retirement on Wednesday, December 18.

Rishabh Pant and Ashwin share a strong bond, with the former also captaining the off-spinner at the Delhi Capitals back in 2021. In Test cricket, the pair shared cues about dismissing a particular batter or how to set a field.

Rishabh Pant famously uses the phrase, "Come on Ash" to fire up the 38-year-old as he would come on to bowl. Pant posted a video on his official X account and integrated the phrase in the caption that read:

"A true legend of the game. It’s been amazing sharing the field with you, learning from your craft and witnessing your greatness. Wishing you the best in all that lies ahead! 🙏 C’mon Ash..C’mon Ash Forever. 🙌❤️"

Ravichandran Ashwin announced his international retirement from across formats

In what came across as a shock to the fans, spin bowling ace Ravichandran Ashwin announced his international retirement after the Gabba Test. Ashwin said in the post-match press conference:

"This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level. I feel there is a bit of punch in me left as a cricketer, but I would like to showcase that at club-level cricket. This will be the last day, and I have had a lot of fun. I must say I have played and made a lot of memories alongside Rohit and several of my other teammates, although I have lost a few of them now over the last few years. We are the last bunch of OGs if we can say that, left in the dressing room."

Ashwin retires as Team India's second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 537 Test scalps to his name, only behind Anil Kumble (619). With 765 international wickets to his name, Ashwin retires as the 11th-highest wicket-taker in the sport.
