"Can’t wait for the English team to take credit” - Aakash Chopra's dig at England after record-breaking Day 4 of IND vs BAN 2024 2nd Test

Former India opener Aakash Chopra took a dig at the England men's cricket team and sarcastically said that they should be credited for the way India played on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur.

Going hard against Bangladesh, India smashed 285 for nine declared in just 34.4 overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 off 51) and KL Rahul (68 off 43) scoring brisk half-centuries. On their way to the total, Rohit Sharma and Co. broke the record for the fastest Test 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 by a team.

Akash Chopra took to his official account on X and posted the following statement:

"Fastest 50, Fastest 100, Fastest 150, Fastest 200, Fastest 250, Number 1 Test team on the WTC points table. Can’t wait for the English team to take credit for transforming Indian Test cricket. Thank you 🙏🏽 #IndvBan"

Take a look at the post below:

Aakash Chopra's post is a dig at Ben Duckett who, during a series against India earlier this year, tried to credit themselves for Yashasvi Jaiswal's exhilarating knocks. Here is what the 29-year-old English opener had said:

"When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they're playing differently than how other people play Test cricket."

Aakash Chopra's tweet is a jeer at coach Brendon McCullum and England's 'Bazball' approach with which they play the longest format of the game in a high-risk-high-reward mode.

After Days two and three of the Test were washed out, Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 in their first innings. While India raced out of the blocks, they ran out of steam and were content with a slender lead of 52 runs.

The hosts bowled again, with Ravichandran Ashwin picking up both wickets to fall before stumps. India need to win this Test to get 12 points in the World Test Championship table and consolidate their top spot. India won the first match in Chennai by 280 runs and lead the two-Test series 1-0.
