India’s A team reached England a few days ago and played an unofficial Test, where Karun Nair, India’s latest Test returnee, scored a magnificent double ton. While India A will begin their second unofficial Test against England Lions on Friday, June 6, the senior squad will also play a four-day warm-up match, starting June 13.

Ahead of the 65-day-long tour, the BCCI shared pictures of Team India players and head coach Gambhir at the airport before their departure, wearing their brand-new travel kits.

‘Pataudi Trophy,’ the England-India series in England, now renamed

The series between the two teams played in India is called the Anthony de Mello Trophy, in honor of the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Meanwhile, the England vs India series in England was named the Pataudi Trophy in 2007, in memory of former India great Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

However, the England series has now been changed to the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, in honor of the two cricketing greats. While Sachin Tendulkar remains the highest scorer for India in Tests with 15,921 runs from 200 Tests, James Anderson ended his red-ball career as England's leading wicket-taker, having picked 704 scalps in 188 games.

While Anderson retired from the format only last year, in 2024, Tendulkar called time on his career in 2013.
