"Carrying the hopes of a billion with a smile" - Varun Dhawan on meeting Rohit Sharma after India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph

Team India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma attended the Sangeet ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant on Thursday, July 5, at Jio World Center in Mumbai. At the event, the cricket star interacted with popular Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan.

Taking to his official Instagram handle, Varun shared a picture of him posing alongside Sharma. He also expressed his excitement over being able to have a conversation about cricket with the ace batter.

Praising Sharma for his humbleness and carrying the hopes of billion fans with a smile, Varun wrote:

"मुंबईचा राजा @rohitsharma45 Humble, passionate, funny carrying the hopes of a billion with a smile. Was such a joy meeting the INDIAN captain last night and being able to spend little time with him and talk cricket."

It is worth mentioning that the Rohit Sharma-led Indian side trumped South Africa by seven runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. The Men in Blue enjoyed an imperious run at the event, becoming the first team to win a men's T20 World Cup unbeaten.

Sharma was India's top run-getter and the second-highest overall in the edition, amassing 257 runs across eight outings. He notched up three half-centuries and finished with an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70.

Team India stars Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav were honoured by the Ambani family during the Sangeet of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.

The three cricketers stood on the stage with Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani. They celebrated India's win by playing the song 'Lehra Do'. The guests in attendance were seen giving the players a standing ovation.
