“Clown Kohli” - Australian newspaper takes an unsavory dig at Virat Kohli over his heated exchange with Sam Konstas on Day 1 of BGT 2024-25 4th Test

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli continues to be all over the Australian media for unwanted reasons. Ahead of the Melbourne Test, the Australian media was after Virat for the incident that occurred at the airport and now, after the opening day (December 26) of the Melbourne Test, an Australian newspaper has taken yet another dig at the Indian batter.

Virat Kohli was involved in a heated exchange with 19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas on Day 1 of the fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. He was also criticized by many former players for his behavior on the field. After the incident, The West Australian newspaper's back page is going viral on social media.

On the back page, the newspaper has taken an unsavory dig at Virat, calling him 'Clown Kohli'. While they put up a picture of him with a joker nose ball, they also went with the headline - "Indian sook SLAMMED for pathetic bump in teen's dream Test debut."

Further, they also wrote on the back page that Virat Kohli 'escaped' a ban that would have ruled him out of the series-deciding final Test.

What was the incident between Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas?

Virat Kohli and 19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas were involved in a shoulder barge, that drew large attention on the opening day of the ongoing fourth Test in Melbourne.

As both players were moving across the pitch after the 10th over, they bumped shoulders. It appeared as though Virat purposely changed his walking direction to barge onto Konstas. He received backlash from several former cricketers, who felt that it was 'unnecessary' for the former Indian cricketer to have done what he did.

While it is not known if it was deliberate or not, the incident sparked a huge debate on social media, with fans divided over the Kohli-Sam Konstas shoulder barge in BGT 2024-25 4th Test.
