"Critics are like girlfriends, they never stop thinking about you" - When Rohit Sharma took a hilarious dig at cricket experts

Apart from being a brilliant batter, Team India's Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma is known for possessing an excellent sense of humor. A number of his stump mic moments have inspired viral memes. Rohit is also known for making hilarious observations during his press interactions.

Back in June 2014, he responded to getting a fair share of criticism by comparing critics to 'girlfriends', cheekily adding that 'they can never stop thinking about you'. Speaking to news agency PTI, the Indian batter had commented:

"Even after a good last season, there were people who were still criticizing me. So I have realized that I have to just score runs because some criticism will always be there. I will do what's there in my control as I have no control on what others feel about me. Critics actually are like girlfriends, they never stop thinking about you."

Rohit made the observation after a fruitful few months on the big stage. He made his much-delayed Test debut in November 2013 and smashed hundreds in his first two matches in the format against West Indies. The Mumbai batter scored 177 in his debut Test in Kolkata and followed it up with 111* in his next match in Mumbai, which was also Sachin Tendulkar's farewell Test.

Speaking of ODIs, the right-hander batter was moved up to open the innings in 2013 and had a fantastic year. In 28 ODIs in 2013, he smashed 1,196 runs at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 80.81, with two hundreds and eight fifties. Rohit slammed 209 off 158 balls against Australia in Bengaluru, clobbering 12 fours and 16 sixes - the first of his three double tons.

Rohit Sharma is currently gearing up for the India vs New Zealand Test series

Rohit recently led India in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The hosts won the series 2-0. While the 37-year-old impressed as captain, he did not have a great series with the bat, registering scores of six, five, 23, and eight.

The seasoned cricketer is now gearing up to lead India in the three-match Test series against New Zealand, which will be played from October 16 to November 5. The first Test will be held at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the second at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, and the third at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
