"CSK will pick him" "No one going to Pick" - Fans split as James Anderson registers for IPL 2025 auction
Former England pacer James Anderson has registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, which will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. The 42-year-old speedster has registered at a base price of ₹1.25 crore. Interestingly, the Lancashire-born fast bowler has not played a T20 match since 2014.
Earlier this year, Anderson retired as England's leading wicket-taker in both Tests and international cricket. The legendary pacer bagged 704 Test scalps and 991 international wickets overall. He soon joined the England team as a mentor. As a result, he brings in a wealth of experience to deliver on the field and groom the youngsters at large.
Fans on X came up with mixed reactions to James Anderson taking part in the IPL 2025 mega auction. One user wrote:
"He should just go straight into coaching, he can still earn a good living from that."

Several IPL teams could be in the fray to purchase James Anderson as a bowling coach-cum-player, especially the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as Dwayne Bravo has left the role to mentor reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
"I really feel I'll be good enough to play that form of cricket" - James Anderson
After retiring from international cricket, James Anderson said he would like to play the T20 format, especially in The Hundred. He told the BBC:
"There's definitely a bit of intrigue with the shorter formats because I've not played any franchise stuff before. Watching The Hundred this year, seeing the ball swing around, it makes me feel like I could do a job there."
"I know it's a while since I played it and my age will get brought up again but I really feel I'll be good enough to play that form of cricket."
Notably, 1,574 players, including 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas, have registered for next year's IPL. The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
With 46 players already retained, 204 players are up for grabs since teams can only have 25 players (max). A total of 52 players from England will take part in the auction.
