“Dance away all night long” – Shah Rukh Khan pens down special message for 2024 T20 World Cup champions India after rousing welcome back home

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan penned a special post for 2024 T20 World Cup champions India on Thursday, July 4. The legendary actor said that he was proud to see the Men in Blue for making the whole nation proud. He reserved special praise for the BCCI officials and Rahul Dravid-led support staff.

The reaction came as Rohit Sharma and Co. received a rousing welcome in New Delhi, where they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later in the day, the players then participated in a victory parade on top of an open bus with the jam-packed crowd in Marine Drive to cheer for the team. The players also got a resounding applause at Wankhede Stadium during the felicitation ceremony at Wankhede.

Shah Rukh Khan, who co-owns reigning Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knights Riders (KKR), quoted a video shared by PTI. It showed the players in the victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede at Marine Drive. He wrote on X:

“Seeing the boys so happy and emotional fills my heart with pride…. As Indians this is such an amazing moment - to see our boys take us to such great heights!!! Love u all my Team India… and now dance away all night long. Boys in Blue take away all the blues!
“Big Congratulations to the @BCCI, @JayShah and the entire support staff that has worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that our boys could soar!!”

“This trophy is for entire nation” – Rohit Sharma on India’s 2024 T20 World Cup victory

India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his gratitude to the fans for turning out in large numbers in New Delhi and Mumbai. The 37-year-old dedicated the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy to the fans, saying (via Jio Cinema):

“Since the time we have come to India, it has been wonderful. This trophy is for entire nation. This is a special team, I am so lucky to lead this team.”

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid also expressed his gratitude to the players for giving him a fitting farewell by winning the coveted 2024 T20 World Cup trophy. He said (via Jio Cinema):

“This team is like a family. Incredible what the boys have done. They showed 'Never Say Die' attitude. Fantastically led by Rohit Sharma. I wasn't sure on continuing after 50-over World Cup. Rohit called and said let's have one more crack. Truly grateful! One of the best phone calls I have received in my life.”

Following the 2024 T20 World Cup, the action shifts to India's tour of Zimbabwe, where Shubman Gill will lead a 15-member side in a five-match T20I series. All the matches will be played at the Harare Sports Complex from July 6 onwards.
