Dates for next 3 seasons revealed with IPL 2025 starting on March 14: Reports

The dates for the next three seasons of the IPL have been revealed, with the forthcoming season of the marquee league reportedly set to begin on March 14. With the IPL expanding back to 10 franchises, the league has started earlier with every passing year. The most recently concluded season kicked off on March 22.

As per a report from ESPNcricinfo, the 10 franchises have received an email which contains the start dates of the next three seasons of the IPL. The season that follows next year, IPL 18, will begin on March 14 and culminate with the final, scheduled to be played on May 25.

The dates for the next two years that follow, 2026 and 2027, were also revealed, with the league expected to be played from March 15 to May 31 in 2026 and March 14 to May 30 in 2027.

The next season will see 74 games in total, 10 less than what was listed by the IPL as per the tender of the media rights from the 2023-27 cycle. The tender also stated that there will be 94 games in the 2027 season; a call on that, however, is yet to be taken.


IPL 2025 mega auction to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The mega auction for the next season of IPL is scheduled to take place at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25. The auction will see 574 players from 79 sets go under the hammer.

Big names such as Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant feature in the Marquee Players set, which has been split into two this time. Iyer and Pant find themselves in Set 1, while Rahul has been placed in Set 2.
