Day 1 sold out for BGT 2024-25 Boxing Day Test; date announced for final release of few tickets for non-members

Cricket Australia (CA) in a press release has announced that the tickets for Day 1 (December 26) of the Boxing Day Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia have been sold out. The non-members who wish to avail of tickets will have to wait for a final release of tickets which will be made available from December 24 onwards.

The press release from Cricket Australia added that the interest of the Australian fans has piqued after the hosts won the second Test by 10 wickets and drew level (1-1) in the five-match series. Thus the Boxing Day Test, hosted by the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) every year, has seen the first day being sold out for this year's contest.

The press release stated:

"All available public tickets for Day 1 of the NRMA Insurance Boxing Day Test have been sold as the enormous fan interest in the compelling NRMA Insurance Border-Gavaskar Trophy series grows."

The press release added that a small section of tickets will be on sale a couple of days prior to the game. It mentioned:

"The MCG will be heaving for one of the great events in world cricket with a possible final release of a small number of public tickets on December 24 the last chance for non-members to get their seats for Boxing Day."

Tickets for New Year's Test at SCG also selling out fast

Cricket Australia in the press release also mentioned that certain categories of tickets are fast selling for the New Year's Test. The fifth and final match will be hosted by the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 3 onwards. The press release stated:

"Public tickets for the New Year’s Test at the SCG are also selling fast, with only a limited number of Category A and Category B tickets available for Days 1 to 3."

The five-match Test series between India and Australia is equally poised, with Australia winning the second Test in Adelaide and leveling the series 1-1. The third Test of the series begins on December 14 and is scheduled to be played at The Gabba, Brisbane
