Days after Sania Mirza’s cryptic post, Shoaib Malik marries Pakistani actress Sana Javed
Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has married Pakistani actress Sana Javed. He shared pictures of the wedding ceremony on his Instagram handle on Saturday, January 20.
The cricketer shared the pictures on social media with the caption:
"And We created you in pairs"
Javed also shared the same pictures on her social media handle. She and Malik (41) were rumored to be dating.
The seasoned all-rounder had also wished Javed on her birthday last year. He posted a photo of the two on his Instagram page with the caption:
"Happy Birthday Buddy."
Malik’s wedding news comes just days after tennis star Sania Mirza shared a cryptic post on marriage and divorce.
Reacting to Malik’s wedding, Mirza's father Imran Mirza told news agency PTI that it was a 'khula,' which refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.
Mirza married Malik in 2010 in a traditional Hyderabadi Muslim wedding ceremony. Their Walima ceremony was in Sialkot in Pakistan. The couple have a son, Izhaan, who was born in 2018, but rumors of their separation had been doing the rounds for a while.
Malik had divorced Ayesha Siddiqui before marrying Mirza. The latter was earlier engaged to Sohrab Mirza, but the engagement was called off shortly afterwards, and the tennis star went on to marry the Pakistani cricketer.
Sania Mirza's cryptic post sparked rumors of her separation with Shoaib Malik
While Malik’s marriage has taken fans by surprise, there had been multiple hints about all not being well in his relationship with Mirza. On Wednesday, Mirza had shared a cryptic post related to marriage and divorce on her Instagram stories. The post read:
“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard. Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard. Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard.
"Choose your hard. Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard. Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely.”
Earlier in the month, she had shared another post that grabbed the attention of fans. It went as follows:
“When something disturbs the peace of your heart, let it go.”
Malik and Mirza’s separation rumors started doing the rounds around November 2022. The two, however, shot together for the ‘The Mirza Malik Show’.
But in 2023, the speculation resurfaced after the cricketer removed the 'husband to a Superwoman @mirzasaniar' part from his Instagram bio.
The 41-year-old Malik has represented Pakistan in 35 Tests, 287 ODIs and 124 T20Is. His last international game was against Bangladesh in Mirpur in November 2021.
