DC Retention List IPL 2025: Full list of players retained by Delhi Capitals, Price tags in INR and Purse remaining

Delhi Capitals (DC) have retained spin all-rounder Axar Patel, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, South African international Tristan Stubbs and Bengal uncapped prodigy Abishek Porel, in that order, ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Among those retained, Axar will be the highest earner for the franchise (before the auction) at ₹16.50 crore, with Kuldeep at ₹13.25 crore, Stubbs at ₹10 crore and Porel ₹4 crore following in order.

As DC have used just four retentions, they'll have two Right to Match card options available at the auction table.

Last season's captain and India's first-choice Test wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will go into the auction, in what would come as a major shock to some DC faithful. Australians David Warner and Mitchell March, as well as Indian internationals Prithvi Shaw, Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, were also not retained.

Pant's position in the team was under clouds for a while. He took over from the injured Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2021 when the team qualified for playoffs at the top of the table but didn't reach the final. The 'keeper-batter captained in 2022 and 2024 but couldn't inspire the team to another playoff finish.

Now, DC will not only look to build a more competitive T20-oriented side, not dependent on its overseas talent, but also secure a new skipper.

It's another chapter in the complete overhaul of the franchise. It began with head coach Ricky Ponting being relieved of his duties. Recently, the team's control was also transferred from one co-owner, the JSW Group, to the other, the GMR Group.

The new controlling party appointed former India cricketers Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao as Head Coach and Director of Cricket respectively. They also ousted Sourav Ganguly before the JSW Group gave him a different role at the franchise.

DC purse for IPL 2025 Auction

Now, DC have a ₹73 crore purse for the IPL 2025 auction. Although they have used ₹35.75 crore of their ₹120 crore purse, the IPL rules say that a franchise retaining four players, including one uncapped, will see its purse reduced by 47 crore irrespective of how much they decide to pay players individually.
