DC vs MI: Who won yesterday's match in IPL 2024?

Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 10 runs in yesterday's IPL 2024 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sent into bat, DC posted 257-4 as Jake Fraser-McGurk top-scored with a scintillating 84 off 27. In their chase, MI were held to 247-9 despite Tilak Varma's 63 off 32.

With Prithvi Shaw being dropped for the game, Delhi Capitals opened the innings with Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel. The move paid off, as the opening duo added 114 in 7.3 overs.

Fraser-McGurk was absolutely sensational, as he raced to a 15-ball 50, with even Jasprit Bumrah not being spared. The young Aussie reached his half-century by launching Piyush Chawla over long-on for six.

Fraser-McGurk's stunning knock ended when he pulled a googly from Chawla to deep midwicket. His enterprising innings featured 11 fours and six sixes. Porel (36 off 27) was then caught behind, trying to heave Mohammad Nabi.

Shai Hope came in and clobbered five sixes in his 17-ball 41 to justify his No. 3 position in the batting order.

Tristan Stubbs (48* off 25) then went after Luke Wood in the 18th over and clubbed him for five fours and a six. Skipper Rishabh Pant contributed a handy 29 off 19.

Tilak Varma's heroics in vain as MI go down in big chase

Mumbai Indians got off to a poor start in the chase, as Rohit Sharma (8) miscued a lofted stroke off Khaleel Ahmed.

Ishan Kishan (20 off 14) then slapped a length ball to wide mid-off. Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 13) looked dangerous during his stay at the crease until he chipped one from Khaleel to cover.

Varma and skipper Hardik Pandya (46 off 24) added 71 for the fourth wicket to give Mumbai Indians hope. Pandya took on Kuldeep in the ninth over and slammed him for three fours and a six. He perished to Rasikh Salam, hitting one straight up in the air. In the same over, Nehal Wadhera (4) nicked one outside the off stump.

Varma and Tim David (37 off 17) kept Mumbai's hopes alive, adding 70 for the sixth wicket. The latter was trapped lbw by Mukesh Kumar as he tried to hit one across the line.

It was a great comeback from the DC pacer, who had been slammed for 6,4,6 off the previous three deliveries.

MI went into the last over needing 25 runs for a victory. Their faint hopes, though, were dashed, as Varma was run out off the first ball, making a desperate but unsuccessful attempt to retain the strike.
