“DCW will take action” – Swati Maliwal reacts to abuses hurled at Shubman Gill’s sister

Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission of Women, has strongly condemned attacks on Shubman Gill and his sister.

She posted several pictures of insensitive comments targeting Shahneel Gill adding that proper action will be taken at those hurling her abuses on social media.

In a tweet post, Swati Maliwal wrote:

“Extremely shameful to see trollers abusing #ShubhmanGill’s sister just because the team they follow lost a match.”

She added:

“Previously we had initiated action against people abusing #ViratKohli daughter. DCW will take action against all those who have abused Gill’s sister as well. This shall not be tolerated!”

The development came after Gill’s century helped the defending champions Gujarat Titans eliminated Royal Challengers Bangalore from IPL 2023 playoffs.

Shahneel shared a post for brother Shubman after his century following GT’s six-wicket win on Sunday, May 21. She wrote on Instagram:

Shubman Gill among IPL 2023’s leading run-scorers

Shubman Gill has been sensational with the bat in IPL 2023. He has so far amassed 680 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 152.46, including four half-centuries as GT finished table-toppers with 10 wins in 14 games.

The right-handed batter recently smashed back-to-back tons against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and RCB, becoming only fourth batter after Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Jos Buttler to achieve the milestone.

The 23-year-old needs 51 more runs to overtake Faf du Plessis (730 runs in 14 games) and win the Orange Cap.

The Punjab-born batter will now look to guide GT to consecutive finals in their bid to win consecutive IPL trophies. Even if GT lose, they will get another chance to qualify in the final by playing the winner of the Eliminator match between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians.
