South Africa continued their dominance in the 2023 World Cup with another comfortable victory against Bangladesh on Tuesday (October 24) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Courtesy of the win, they now occupy the second position in the points table with eight points from five games.
The Proteas batted first in the match after winning the toss. They managed to notch up a mammoth total of 382/5 after another strong batting performance of their in-form line-up. Quinton de Kock (174) led the charge with a sensational century. Heinrich Klaasen (90), Aiden Markram (60), and David Miller (34*) played supporting roles with handy contributions.
The South African bowlers then complemented the efforts of their batters by reducing Bangladesh to 58/5 in 15 overs. Veteran Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah then delayed the inevitable by stringing along partnerships with the lower-order batters to reduce the deficit of the loss.
Mahmudullah managed to complete his century in the 45th over before departing in the following over. Bangladesh eventually bundled out for 233 in 46.4 overs and lost the match by 149 runs.

After the match on Tuesday, Proteas batter Quinton de Kock reflected on the comprehensive win, saying:
"I think I am a bit more tired than satisfied, it was a great game and we all played well and nice to get two more points on board."
He added about his conversion rates:
"To be honest, I'm not too sure, first time it was an experience and it's just happening."
He added:
"It has been cool, bit nervous in the morning and came in gave a speech, some of the guys don't get nervous but it was a great day. Klaasen has been amazing, not sure what he's doing, but has been special this year for us, he has taken it by storm and very happy for him."
South Africa will next face Pakistan on Friday, October 27.
