Deandra Dottin sold to Gujarat Giants for ₹1.7 crore at WPL 2025 auction

West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin got sold for ₹1.7 crore at the WPL 2025 auction in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 15. Her services were acquired by Gujarat Giants (GG) after a bidding war with UP Warriorz. Her base price was ₹50 lakh, the highest bracket in the auction. She was amongst only three players with the highest base price alongside England skipper Heather Knight and South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee.

Dottin comes up with an experience of playing 132 T20Is, scoring 2817 runs, including two tons and 12 half-centuries. The medium pacer has also bagged 67 wickets in the format.

The 33-year-old has played in several T20 tournaments, including the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), The Hundred, and the Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL).

She was recently seen in action for Melbourne Renegades in the 2024 WBBL season. The right-handed batter amassed 148 runs in 11 games (10 innings) at a strike rate of 151.02. She also picked up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 8.66.

Dottin was supposed to play for Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season after being picked for ₹60 lakh. However, she was released by the franchise due to a controversy. Australia's Kim Garth had replaced her in the squad.

The West Indies player would be keen to change the fate of the Gujarat-based franchise. GG finished last in the 2024 points table with just two wins in eight games.

Former India captain Mithali Raj and Noohsin Al Khadeer resigned as mentor and assistant coach, respectively, ahead of the auction. Michael Klinger will continue as head coach, while Daniel Marsh and Pravin Tamble will also serve as batting and bowling coaches, respectively.
