“Death-over Boulty. You will be missed” – Rajasthan Royals bid heartfelt farewell to Trent Boult as MI buy him at IPL 2025 Auction
New Zealand’s pace sensation Trent Boult was roped in by his former franchise Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2025 auction on Sunday, November 24. He represented Rajasthan Royals from the 2022-2024 editions of the Indian Premier League.
The tall pacer is known for his new-ball heroics, especially picking wickets in the first over of the powerplay. Trent Boult is equally famous for his death over spells, having helped the franchises that he has played for so far win games in the final moments.
Rajasthan Royals took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a picture of Boult in the pink outfit. They penned a rather emotional note with a heartbreak and lightning emoji, writing:
“First-over Boulty. Death-over Boulty. Family man Boulty. Team man Boulty. You will be missed. Halla Boult forever, legend.”
After representing Delhi Capitals in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the tournament, Boult was roped in by Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2020 auction. He was with the MI Paltan for two years, before moving to Rajasthan Royals, and lifted the title with them in 2020. Playing for RR, Boult helped the side make it to the final in the tournament’s 2022 edition, which Gujarat Titans eventually won.
Trent Boult has played 104 games at the IPL and picked up 121 wickets at an average of 26.69 and an economy of 8.29. Though his economy rate has been on the higher side, the pacer has never failed to surprise in the powerplay overs, striking when the team needs the most. Mumbai have spent ₹12.50 crores to sign him for IPl 2025.
Rajasthan Royals rope in Jofra Archer as their pacer after losing out on Trent Boult
After losing several bids on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rajasthan Royals finally opened their account by adding Jofra Archer to their squad. The English pacer was purchased for a whopping INR 12.50 crore, the same price for which Boult was sold to MI.
Archer, who represented MI till the 2023 edition, will now don the pink jersey for the tournament starting on March 14, 2025.
