Dhruv Jurel equals MS Dhoni’s record for most catches by a wicketkeeper in an innings of a Duleep Trophy match

Dhruv Jurel has joined former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the prestigious list for the most catches in an innings in Duleep Trophy history. Dhoni set this record by taking seven catches in the second innings of the 2004–05 Duleep Trophy match between East Zone and Central Zone in Gwalior.

Dhoni achieved the feat during Central Zone’s first innings, surpassing the previous records of S. Benjamin (6) for Central Zone in 1973-74 and S. Vishwanath (6) for South Zone in 1980-81.

Despite his record-setting performance behind the stumps, Dhoni had a disappointing batting effort for East Zone, scoring just 19 runs across two innings as Central Zone won the match by six wickets.

Meanwhile, Jurel accomplished this milestone in the ongoing Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B. During India B’s second innings, Jurel excelled behind the stumps, securing seven catches.

However, Jurel had a disappointing performance with the bat, getting out for just two runs off 16 balls in India A’s first innings.

Pant played a superb innings, scoring 61 off 47 balls with nine boundaries and two sixes. However, no other batter made a significant contribution, and India B were eventually bowled out for 184 runs, setting a target of 275. Akash Deep was the standout bowler for India A, taking five wickets.
